Hello, I’m Julia, the artist, storyteller, and enthusiastic idea collector behind Blue Owl Crafted
I’ve been doodling for as long as I can remember, although my creative path has wandered far beyond sketchbooks. Over the years, I’ve explored illustration, photography, light painting, digital art, character design, surface patterns, and even the creation of 3D virtual environments and visual effects.
Before the Blue Owl was born
Long before Blue Owl Crafted, I shared photography, artwork, and creative experiments through my earlier online homes, Travelling Banana and The Picture Window. Those spaces hold many chapters of my creative story, but Blue Owl Crafted is where everything is beginning to come together.

Today, I’m especially drawn to whimsical characters, folk-inspired artwork, mid-century design, playful patterns, and anything that carries a little warmth, personality, nostalgia, or a story waiting to be told. Most ideas begin as a rough sketch, usually accompanied by an Apple Pencil, a cup of tea, a little chocolate, and far too many other ideas trying to interrupt.

When I’m not drawing, you’ll often find me swimming, cycling, reading, or walking along the beach, where new ideas tend to appear when I’m supposed to be relaxing.

This is a place for more than polished finished artwork. I’ll also be sharing the scribbles, experiments, unexpected discoveries, works in progress, and occasional technical gremlins that appear along the way.
You can expect sketchbook peeks, new creations, behind-the-scenes stories, creative adventures, and perhaps a few surprises and downloadable treats from time to time.
Blue Owl Crafted may be a new home, but the creative journey behind it has been unfolding for many years.
